'Empire' actor Jussie Smollett was charged Wednesday with disorderly conduct for allegedly filing a false report with the Chicago Police Department about a purported attack on himself last month.

Emmy award-winning anchor and reporter at Chicago’s Fox 32 is reporting that his sources in the Chicago Police Department said that Jussie Smollett will be indicted for filing a false police report in “hours, not days.”

Additionally, Smollett has added lawyer Mark Geragos to his legal team. Garagos is infamous for representing Michael Jackson and murderer Scott Peterson.

“Top attorney Mark Geragos has joined #JussieSmollett legal team. He is assisting Todd Pugh and Victor Henderson. #CPD sources tell me an indictment of #Smollett could be coming in ‘a matter of hours. Not days,'” Weigel tweeted on Wednesday afternoon.

The news comes shortly after Smollett’s legal team managed to postpone testimony before a grand jury from the two Nigerian brothers who claim that the Empire actor paid them to stage the attack. Many have speculated that it was postponed because of a possible plea deal, though the details remain unknown.

The brothers have also claimed that Smollett was behind a threatening letter that was sent to him a week before the “attack.”

Smollett has repeatedly denied that the “assault” was an elaborate hoax.

“About a dozen search warrants have now been issued, including ones for Smollett’s financial and phone records, and detectives are waiting for those records to come back,” CBS reports.

A new report shows that 'Empire' actor Jussie Smollett had a history of lying to the cops.

Empire actor Jussie Smollett is refusing to be questioned by the Chicago Police Department and has hired the services of a crisis management firm amid reports he staged an attack on himself last month.

“There are no plans for Jussie Smollett to meet with Chicago police today,” Anna Kavanagh, a crisis manager at MediaPros24/7 said in a statement Monday. “Any news reports suggesting otherwise are inaccurate. Smollett’s attorneys will keep an active dialogue going with Chicago police on his behalf. We have no further comment today.”

Chicago police on Sunday said they requested a follow-up interview with Smollett due to “new evidence” they obtained that “shifted” their investigation into the 36-year-old’s alleged assault on January 29. Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi would not comment on reports that Smollett orchestrated the attack and that a grand jury could hear the evidence. “We’re not confirming, denying or commenting on anything until we can talk to him and we can corroborate some information that we’ve gotten,” Guglielmi said.

Smollett, who is gay and black, told police that two masked men hurled racist and anti-gay slurs at him and doused him with an unknown chemical substance as he walked home from a sandwich shop at around 2:00 a.m. local time. The actor said his assailants placed a thin rope around his neck and shouted “This is MAGA country!” before running away.

In a statement to ABC News, attorneys for Smollett said their client was “angered” and “further victimized” by accusations that orchestrated the alleged assault.

“As a victim of a hate crime who has cooperated with the police investigation, Jussie Smollett is angered and devastated by recent reports that the perpetrators are individuals he is familiar with,” Todd Pugh and Victor Henderson, Smollett’s lawyers, told ABC News. “He has now been further victimized by claims attributed to these alleged perpetrators that Jussie played a role in his own attack. Nothing is further from the truth and anyone claiming otherwise is lying.”

“One of these purported suspects was Jussie’s personal trainer who he hired to ready him physically for a music video,” they continued. “It is impossible to believe that this person could have played a role in the crime against Jussie or would falsely claim Jussie’s complicity.

Chicago police on Wednesday picked up Abimbola “Abel” and Olabinjo “Ola” Osundairo — the Nigerian brothers who are now suspected of having Smollett carried out the alleged staged attack — from O’Hare International Airport to question them about their possible involvement.

On Saturday, Fox 32 Chicago’s Rafer Weigel, citing several police sources, reported the pair purchased the rope found around the actor’s neck the night of the alleged attack at a local store. CBS Chicago’s Charlie De Mar reports at least one of the brothers purchased the rope at Craft Beaver hardware store the weekend of January 25th. The rope was bought at the direction of Smollett, De Mar, added. Further, the brothers were compensated $3,500 and promised an another $500 later, according to De Mar.

Smollett could receive up to three years in prison if he is found to have filed a false report with the Chicago Police regarding his alleged attack.

8:30 PM PT — Jussie’s legal team released a statement, lashing out at the reports he paid the Usondairo brothers. “As a victim of a hate crime who has cooperated with the police investigation, Jussie Smollett is angered and devastated by recent reports that the perpetrators are individuals he is familiar with,” the statement began.

Smollett’s attorneys said, “He has now been further victimized by claims attributed to these alleged perpetrators that Jussie played a role in his own attack. Nothing is further from the truth and anyone claiming otherwise is lying.”

“One of these purported suspects was Jussie’s personal trainer who he hired to ready him physically for a music video,” the statement continued, adding, “It is impossible to believe that this person could have played a role in the crime against Jussie or would falsely claim Jussie’s complicity.”

The Jussie Smollett story has taken an unexpected turn after new reports claim the “Empire” star paid the brothers to participate in a staged attack.

News regarding the ongoing investigation is being reported by many local reporters in Chicago, who have been hammering the story since it first broke.

CBS correspondent Carter Evans is reporting that Ola and Abel Usondairo, who have been released from custody, told police that Smollett paid them to participate in an alleged attack, and that the two brothers purchased the rope found on the actor’s neck.

CNN also reports two law enforcement sources believe Smollett paid the Nigerian men to orchestrate the attack.

As The Blast reported, the Usondairo brothers are friends of Smollett, and have even given him shout-outs on their social media pages. Whether they received any money from the actor has not been confirmed, but as we reported, they both filed for bankruptcy a few years back.

Since Smollett appeared on “Good Morning America” this week with Robin Roberts and scolded those who questioned his story, he has hired a criminal defense attorney. Page Six is reporting the actor has retained attorney Michael Monico, who also represents Donald Trump’s former attorney, Michael Cohen.

There were reports earlier in the week that Smollett’s story may be a hoax, but Chicago Police have shot down those rumors and still identify him as a victim.

According to reporter Rafer Weigel, detectives have reached back out to Smollett’s attorney after releasing the Osundairo brothers from custody and expressed an interested in speaking with the star again.

This casts an ominous shadow over the entire hate attack story. Why would a victim hire a criminal defense attorney unless he is expecting charges. Add to that the two brothers who were facing arrest while they were still in custody were let go because of information they gave the police. If it was a set up, there would be nothing to charge them with. But they could charge Smollett to at least get their money back they spent looking for nonexistent attackers. He could also spend some quality time behind bars, although I would expect that to be a short sentence.

The persons of interest were NIGERIAN BROTHERS — THEY WERE BLACK — NOT WHITE MAGA SUPPORTERS!

Police raided the home of the two persons of interest Wednesday night. Police took bleach, shoes, electronics and more. Both men are of Nigerian descent and appeared on the show ‘Empire.’

There’s an obvious answer to the question, “Why would Jussie Smollett do something like that?”

On January 29, tabloid news site TMZ broke the shocking story that Jussie Smollett, a gay black entertainer and progressive activist, had been viciously attacked in Chicago. Two racist white men had fractured his rib, poured bleach on him, and tied a noose around his neck. As they were leaving, they shouted the ominous words: “This is MAGA country” — a reference to President Trump’s campaign slogan. MSNBC reported the rumor that they were even wearing MAGA hats.

Leaks from the Chicago police over the weekend, however, indicate that Smollett likely paid two Nigerian-American brothers he knew to orchestrate the attack. Smollett denied any wrongdoing through a statement released to the media by his lawyers.

That the original story broke days just after the Covington narrative fell apart last month didn’t stop it from spreading quicker than a wildfire. Within hours of TMZ’s report, some of America’s most influential politicians and celebrities amplified the story — and the belief that America is a dangerous place for minorities — to millions across the world.

2020 Democratic presidential hopeful Senator Cory Booker described the attack as “an attempted modern-day lynching.” He used the incident to press for more hate-crime legislation. California senator Kamala Harris, who is leading the polls for the 2020 race, repeated Booker’s words. Speaker Nancy Pelosi described the attack as “an affront to our humanity.” Freshman congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez castigated media for describing the incident as a “possible” hate crime. Her colleague Rashida Tlaib wrote that “the right wing is killing and hurting our people.”

Jussie Smollett is the lead actor on the Fox drama Empire and has deep roots in Hollywood and the Democratic party. Celebrities, many of them friends with Smollett, pounced on the story. Pansexual pop star Janelle Monae shared a (now-deleted) photo of her and Smollett on social media, writing that “it is still a risk daily to be a black, out and proud human being.” Smollett’s co-star Grace Bryers wrote that “hatred, inequality, racism and discrimination continue to course through our country’s veins.” Rapper T.I. condemned the attack on “OUR PEOPLE” and said “the hits won’t stop until we hit back!” He warned that a “revolution is imminent.”

Numerous media outlets exploited the incident. GQ published an essay by Joshua Rivera arguing that the racist, homophobic attack on Smollet is white America’s “endgame.” The Bay area’s Mercury News ran a report implying that those who voiced skepticism were peddling a “conspiracy theory.”

When news leaks from the Chicago police painted an image of Smollett being generally uncooperative, a second phase of reactions were weaponized against doubters. Black Lives Matter activist Deray McKesson tweeted to his million followers that Fox 32 Chicago reporter Rafer Weigel was “responsible for much of the misinformation disseminated by Chicago PD ‘sources.’” Weigel was one of the local journalists who reported leaks that turned out to be accurate. McKesson did not respond to me when I asked if the source of his accusation was Smollett. The president of the Human Rights Campaign, Chad Griffin, echoed McKesson, saying that “this is exactly the treatment that victims of hate crimes fear and why they often stay silent.” Griffin also did not respond when I asked if he was in contact with Smollett.

On February 14, Smollett gave his first sit-down interview about the alleged attack on Good Morning America. A credulous Robin Roberts gave a softball interview that highlighted his emotions rather than evidence. At this point, Smollett was already receiving the services of high-profile crisis PR firm Sunshine Sachs (who also represents Harvey Weinstein) — and it showed. “It feels like if I had said [the suspect] was a Muslim, or a Mexican, or someone black, I feel like the doubters would have supported me much more,” he said.

The strategy was clear: If you doubt him, you are motivated by racism.

Now that Smollett’s story has all but fallen apart, some of the loudest voices two weeks ago are suddenly quiet. Yesterday Senator Booker wouldn’t respond to the recent developments in Smollett’s story despite having been one of the first to express outrage. Instead, he pivoted to talking about right-wing terrorism and white supremacy.

Now many are asking, “Why would Jussie do this?” To me it’s all but clear.

Jussie Smollett’s hoax is symptomatic of America’s illness. Because of the mainstreaming of academia’s victimhood culture, we are now in a place where we place more value on being a victim than on being heroic, charitable, or even kind. Victims or victim groups high on intersectionality points are supposed to be coveted, treated with child gloves, and believed unreservedly. Their “lived experience” gives them infinite wisdom. Those who urge caution are treated as bigots.

Outside of the rare prosecution for faking a hate crime, the incentives for being a victim — real or imagined — are endless.

Anyone not blinded by bias or panic should have been skeptical of Smollett’s story from the beginning. He openly harbors an intense hatred for Donald Trump and his supporters, going so far as comparing them to klansmen. That his alleged attackers perfectly fit this description should have raised eyebrows across the political spectrum. The cartoony, screenplay-villain portrayal of white Trump supporters was outrageously comical. But to insulated urban progressives who have little to no experience interacting with conservatives, a Trump supporter may as well be synonymous with evil.

“Hate-crime hoaxes are found in collective conflicts,” Jason Manning tells me. Manning is a sociologist at West Virginia University and coauthor of the 2018 book The Rise of Victimhood Culture. “Perpetrators might not even think of them as [false] accusations since in many cases they see it as an attempt to draw attention to a real problem. To the extent that modern society increasingly valorizes victimhood, claiming victim status through outright lies will become more attractive.”

While I can only speculate as to Smollett’s motives, perhaps a clue can be found in his bioline on Twitter. Smollett writes: “I am simply here to help save the world.”

As reported earlier today, Chicago police took two persons of interest in Smollett’s alleged “white supremacist MAGA hate crime attack” into custody late Wednesday night.

Over the past few weeks police have been unable to uncover any other leads than these 2 individuals.

Following their arrest more doubt was cast on Smollett’s story.

Smollett claimed his attackers were white supremacists and that they told Smollett he was in MAGA country, while placing a noose around his neck and pouring bleach on him.

Then in an even more interesting turn, after a significantly long interrogation they were released without charges.

Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi tweeted: “Due to new evidence as a result of today’s interrogations, the individuals questioned by police in the Empire case have now been released without charges.”

The Chicago Police Department believe Empire actor Jussie Smollett staged an attack on himself last month, according to a report.

“Chicago Police believe Jussie Smollett paid two men to orchestrate the assault. The sources tell CNN that the two men are now cooperating fully with law enforcement,” tweeted CNN crime and justice reporter Shimon Prokupecz Saturday evening.

Earlier Saturday, Fox 32 Chicago’s Rafer Weigel, citing several police sources, reported Abimbola “Abel” and Olabinjo “Ola” Osundairo — the two Nigerian brothers arrested and later questioned by police about the alleged incident — purchased the rope found around the actor’s neck the night of the alleged attack at an ACE hardware store.

The dramatic developments come after Chicago police released the two men, citing to “new evidence” obtained in their interrogations.

“Due to new evidence as a result of today’s interrogations, the individuals questioned by police in the Empire case have now been released without charging and detectives have additional investigative work to complete,” said Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.

In a phone interview with New York Times reporter Sopan Deb, Guglielmi would not confirm Weigel’s report, but did say, “After we spoke to the former suspects last night, detectives reached out to Jussie Smollett’s attorneys and expressed interest that we need to talk to him again.”

On Wednesday, the Osundairo brothers were arrested by police at O’Hare Airport after returning from a trip to Nigeria to visit family, and brought in for questioning. The brothers were reportedly spotted on surveillance footage in the Chicago neighborhood where the alleged incident occurred. Gloria Schmidt, an attorney for the brothers had told CBS 2 that her clients could be charged on Friday. “They were actually detained at customs at O’Hare airport yesterday around 5:45 p.m.,” Schmidt said. “They had no idea what was going on, and they’ve been detained since then.”

“When they first learned about what happened to him they were horrified. This is someone they know. This is someone they’ve worked with, so they don’t want to see somebody go through that,” she continued.

The lawyer confirmed the Osundairos had been extras on Empire and went to the gym with Smollett.

Smollett, who is black and gay, has said two masked men shouting racial and anti-gay slurs and “This is MAGA country!” beat him and looped a rope around his neck early on January 29 before fleeing the scene. He said they also poured some kind of chemical on him. Smollett, 36, said he was out getting food at a Subway sandwich shop in downtown Chicago when the attack occurred.

Smollett has maintained that he has been truthful about the incident, contending his story has not changed since it took place. “I am working with authorities and have been 100% factual and consistent on every level,” the actor said in a statement to ESSENCE magazine. “Despite my frustrations and deep concern with certain inaccuracies and misrepresentations that have been spread, I still believe that justice will be served.”

Michael Monico, the high-powered criminal defense attorney representing longtime Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, revealed Thursday that he is also representing Smollett, a sign the actor-singer may be gearing up for a major legal battle.

In his first interview since the alleged attack, Smollett told ABC’s Good Morning America he was targeted due to his outspokenness against President Donald Trump and his administration. “I come really, really hard against 45. I come really hard against his administration. I don’t hold my tongue,” he told interviewer Robin Roberts.

The alleged encounter spurred Democrat presidential contenders and score of Hollywood celebrities to condemn the attack — for which many of those entertainment and politic figures blamed President Donald Trump.

“The racist and homophobic attack on Jussie Smollett is a horrific instance of the surging hostility toward minorities around the country. We must come together to eradicate all forms of bigotry and violence,” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said of the alleged attack.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) commended the alleged assault, describing it as an “attempted modern day lynching.”

“No one should have to fear for their life because of their sexuality or color of their skin. We must confront this hate,” she said.

BREAKING NEWS.

Fox 32 reporter Rafer Weigel said Saturday afternoon that Chicago police sources confirmed detectives were able to show that the Nigerian brothers who were “persons of interest” and questioned by police, bought the rope found around Jussie Smollett’s neck at Ace hardware.

Jussie Smollett alleged two white Trump supporters violently attacked him at 2 AM in the streets of Chicago when he was walking home from Subway with a sandwich in his hand.

Smollett told police the attackers were white and hurled homophobic and racial slurs at him while they beat him, poured bleach on him then put a noose around his neck.

Strangely, Mr. Smollett still had the rope around his neck when the police arrived to his apartment to take a report of the attack.

According to Rafer Weigel, the Nigerian brothers agreed to cooperate with police after the police threatened to charge them with battery.

“There are unconfirmed reports that Smollett paid the two brothers to perform the alleged scheme,” Rafer Weigel reported.

The Smollett hoax took an interesting turn Friday night after Chicago Police released the two Nigerian brotherswho were held for 48 hours and questioned as “persons of interest.”

CWB, a local Chicago crime blog is reporting the Nigerian brothers, who appeared as extras on the show ‘Empire’ may have flipped on Jussie Smollett.

It was reported Friday that Jussie Smollett hired high-powered criminal defense attorney Michael Monico. Mr. Monico also represents Michael Cohen.

According to reports, police released the Nigerian brothers based on “new evidence” in the case — detectives are also analyzing a bottle of bleach seized from Jussie Smollett’s apartment.

Chicago police say they will be requesting more phone records from "Empire" star Jussie Smollett regarding the racist and homophobic attack he allegedly faced two weeks ago. Smollett has turned over heavily redacted phone records, but evidence has begun to emerge suggesting his story was fabricated. Rumors are swirling that police are even considering charging him with filing a false report.

On Monday night, Fox 32 Chicago anchor Rafer Weigel reported that police "received cell phone records today from Smollett's camp. They were limited and redacted but detectives will analyze them."

Late Monday evening, ABC7 Chicago reported that an empty hot sauce bottle that smelled like bleach was found near the location of the alleged attack. Smollett had told police that the attackers — who wore "Make America Great Again" hats and screamed "This is MAGA country!" — had poured an unknown bleach-smelling liquid on him and put a noose around his neck after they yelled racist and homophobic slurs at him at 2 a.m. on January 29.

Chicago police confirmed a New York Post story about the hot sauce bottle.

"It's unclear if that is related to the incident as it was not discovered during any of the earlier canvasses but we took it for analysis," Chicago Police Department (CPD) spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said. "The FBI is providing CPD with technical assistance on this case at our request. I'm not sure if the bottle went to their lab or one of ours."

As for the phone records, Guglielmi said, "We are very appreciative of the victim's cooperation, however, the records provided do not meet the burden for a criminal investigation as they were limited and heavily redacted. Detectives may be following up with him to request additional data to corroborate the investigative timeline."

Chicago police have not been able to identify any legitimate suspects in the case, nor have they been able to find any surveillance footage of the attack. There is speculation that the hot sauce bottle may have been placed after the fact to prop up the hoax if Smollett indeed made a false report.

As noted by The Source, Jussie Smollett is in the hot seat after there have been several reports that the openly gay actor may have possibly filed a false report to police. If that’s the case, the Chicago Police Department promises to charge Smollett for making a false police report in regards to the alleged hate crime perpetrated against him on January 29th.

The investigation is still ongoing, but with the Empire actor refusing to hand his phone over to authorities, the 36-year old actor will have a hard time proving his case and avoiding jail time as his alleged assailants have managed to do.

In the meantime, Chicago PD Superintendent Eddie Johnson vehemently states that if Smollett is found to not be telling the truth he will be charged.

As more and more details emerge or “don’t” emerge in the alleged “Jussie Smollett Hate Crime Attack” the Chicago police have made a statement regarding the growing possibility Smollett may be lying.

According to The Daily Wire, Chicago police superintendent Eddie Johnson reportedly told local media Tuesday that the Chicago Police Department will pursue a case against “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett if it turns out Smollett filed a false police report alleging a late night attack.

Smollett was allegedly attacked while walking home from a Subway sandwich shop in downtown Chicago. Smollett says that two men approached him, targeted him with both racial and homophobic slurs, tossed a rope around his neck, and then poured an unspecified liquid on him, which may have been bleach. Smollett reported being injured in the attack, and later told law enforcement officials that the two attackers yelled “Welcome to MAGA country!” during the incident.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported last week that Smollett was “reticent” to file a police report, but that another individual, present in Smollett’s apartment, encouraged him to call police and to seek medical attention. Smollett also refused to provide police with his phone, despite telling law enforcement that he had been on a call with his manager at the time of the attack.

The developments have led some to question Smollett’s version of the attack, even though the “Empire” star insists that his original version of events is the correct one, according to the Associated Press.

Rafer Weigel a Fox 32 reporter said Tuesday that he spoke to Police Superintendent Johnson and that Johnson told him Smollett is “still being treated as a victim” in his case, but that the police are pursuing all angles of the event.

#ChicagoPolice Supt Eddie Johnson says #JussieSmollett is still being treated as the victim in this case but if the investigation does reveal he made a false report he will be held accountable.

UPDATE: TMZ is now reporting police are seeking an additional interview from Smollett.

Twitter users have noted from various articles that it looks like Smollett has been accounted for during every moment during his outing, except for a 60 second period.

Chicago police superintendent Eddie Johnson reportedly told local media Tuesday that the Chicago Police Department will pursue a case against "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett if it turns out Smollett filed a false police report alleging a late night attack.

Smollett reported being injured in the attack, and later told law enforcement officials that the two attackers yelled "Welcome to MAGA country!" during the incident.

A subsequent investigation by Chicago police revealed that, indeed, Smollett did walk several blocks to and from a Subway sandwich shop that evening, but that Smollett was on camera for all but about 60 seconds of his trip, during which Smollett reports the attack took place.

Although two individuals were pictured on security cameras near where Smollett says he was attacked, sources close to CPD told local media that those two individuals appear to be homeless and were in the vicinity between 15 and 30 minutes before Smollett arrived back at his apartment on East Water Street, just north of the Chicago River. Chicago Police also reportedly dismissed a neighbor's claim that a "redneck"-looking man was loitering behind Smollett's apartment building, according to Chicago crime watch blog, CWB Chicago.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported last week that Smollett was "reticent" to file a police report, but that another individual, present in Smollett's apartment, encouraged him to call police and to seek medical attention. Smollett also refused to provide police with his phone, despite telling law enforcement that he had been on a call with his manager at the time of the attack.

The developments have led some to question Smollett's version of the attack, even though the "Empire" star insists that his original version of events is the correct one, according to the Associated Press.

Fox 32 reporter Rafer Weigel reported Tuesday that he spoke to Police Superintendent Johnson and that Johnson told him Smollett is "still being treated as a victim" in his case, but that the police are pursuing all angles of the event.

Sources close to the Chicago Police Department also tell The Daily Wire that police have filed a series of subpoenas in order to compel the production of Smollett's phone records from the night of the attack, a report apparently confirmed by CWB Chicago.

Police are also looking into the source of the rope Smollett says was placed around his neck during the attack. Initially, Smollett said the rope resembled a "noose," but upon closer examination, according to the Sun-Times, the rope appeared to be a thin "clothesline" which police believe came straight out of the package before it ended up around Smollett's neck (Smollett was still wearing the rope when police arrived to take his report, 45 minutes after the attack).

Investigators are reportedly "visiting retail stores" looking for surveillance camera footage of anyone buying a similar product in the days before the attack.

Fox News reporter Matt Finn also says that CPD is getting its "ducks in a row" for "possible interrogations" regarding the attack, but Finn did not provide details as to who or what might be interrogated.

#JussieSmollett updates

•CPD: no video yet of the “redneck” with a rope & redneck description didn’t match w suspects.

•Subway in hand? PD holding that detail to see if people coming forward match w/ they have on cam.

•CPD: getting ‘ducks in row’ for possible interrogations.

So far, the police do not appear to have any suspects or persons of interest in the case.

Jussie Smollett, the gay black actor who appears on the TV show Empire, wants the world to know he’s okay. He did a concert last night during which he addressed the alleged hate-crime assault he suffered early Tuesday morning near a Subway sandwich shop in downtown Chicago. In his latest comments on his case Smollett said,“There has been a lot of stuff said about me that’s absolutely not true.” He then paused to glance at the balcony and add, “I’m sure my lawyer’s sitting up there like. ‘No, Jussie, no! No! Shut the f*** up and sing.’” Consulting his notes, he moved on to “four points” he said he wanted to make: “I was bruised but my ribs were not cracked; they were not broken. I went to the doctor immediately. . . . I was not hospitalized. Both my doctors in L.A. and Chicago cleared me to perform, but said to take care, obviously. And above all: I fought the f*** back.”

Smollett has previously said he was talking to his manager on his cellphone during the attack and still had that phone after the attack. Chicago reporter Rafer Weigel of Fox32 News tweeted that police sources had confirmed that Smollett also still had the Subway sandwich on him when he turned up at an apartment building shortly after the alleged attack.

So Smollett underwent a vicious beating by two attackers that apparently lasted less than 60 seconds, since that is the reported gap in surveillance footage between an image of him without a rope around his neck and an image of him with the rope. Smollett now says he fought back, but apparently he lost neither his Subway sandwich nor his cell phone in this brawl. Also he didn’t immediately call the police on that phone to describe the suspects and inform the police which way they had gone when they suddenly ran away from him, but instead waited about 40 minutes to inform the police.

Also Smollett for some reason thinks his lawyers are eager for him not to publicly discuss the case. Curious.

This story just keeps becoming harder and harder to believe for the Trump hating Smollett.

Now Fox 32 News’ Rafer Weigel is reporting from a Chicago Police source that Jussie Smollett was seen on surveillance camera still holding his Subway sandwich when he returned to the building after the alleged attack.

First he won’t release his cell phone or his managers cell phone to back up their statements of the alleged incident, now according to Fox 32 and a Chicago Police source he’s seen with his Sandwich in tact after the alleged attack?

When you look at all of his anti President Trump rhetoric, which started back in 2011, the fact that his manager Brandon Moore represents rapper YG whose first single was ‘FDT’ (F**k Donald Trump).

Where is the Washington Post with their Pinocchio chart on this story?

New Video evidence has emerged in the Jussie Smollett attack claim that casts serious doubts on it’s validity.

Smollett claimed that he was attacked by two men who tied a noose around his neck and said “this is Maga country.” He also claimed his ribs were broken as a result of the assault.

The Empire actor claimed this happened in Chicago at around 2 a.m. with sub zero temperatures in a NOW DELETED Instagram post.

As noted by The Federalist, After combing hundreds of hours of video the police have found no evidence of any attack and now Fox 32 reporter Rafer Weigel has had more updates to the story that add to the skepticism.

“Chicago PD says they have not yet seen any medical records so far citing a broken rib,” he said on Friday.

The Paper noted significant skepticism of the report with the latest discoveries:

After he was attacked, a noose around his neck and hit with bleach he casually walks into his building still holding his Subway sandwich?

Smollett has stood by his story so far, but is yet to comment on the recent evidence.

“Let me start by saying that I’m OK. My body is strong but my soul is stronger. More importantly I want to say thank you,” he said.

“The outpouring of love and support from my village has meant more than I will ever be able to truly put into words,” Smollett said.

“I am working with authorities and have been 100 percent factual and consistent on every level,” the actor said.

With the recent additional footage and police reports it will be interesting to see if Smollett changes his story.

Chicago Police has just made two arrests in the ongoing case of the alleged attack on“Empire” star Jussie Smollett’s.

Since last month, openly gay actor Smollett has claimed that two white President Trump supporters assaulted him late one night in Chicago while screaming racist and anti-gay slurs and yelling “This is MAGA country!” His account led to a nationwide condemnation of Trump and his supporters by liberals.

Now police have officially arrested two Nigerian brothers in connection to the suspected crime, ABC News reported on Friday. According to Fox 32 Chicago reporter Rafer Weigel, they have not been formally charged yet.

The brothers, who happen to be extras on “Empire,” are male models and bodybuilders who have been identified as Abimbola “Abel” and Olabinjo “Ola” Osundairo, the UK’s Daily Mail reported. They have been photographed working out in the private gym of Smollett.

Police confirmed that the brothers “have a relationship with” Jussie, ABC News reported. They didn’t specify that nature of that relationship. On Thursday, police raided their home, looking for evidence.

“Detectives have probable cause that they may have been involved in an alleged crime and we are working to corroborate the allegations and investigative timeline as our investigation continues,” authorities told ABC News.

They also added that “While we haven’t found any video documenting the alleged attack, there is also no evidence to say that this is a hoax. The alleged victim [Smollett] is being cooperative at this time and continues to be treated as a victim, not a suspect.”

Speculation has grown the past couple weeks that the whole attack was a hoax. Now new speculation is arising that the attack did happen — perhaps over a domestic dispute — and that Smollett lied to police about the nature of the attack and turned it into an anti-Trump political opportunity. Smollett’s Twitter feeds is filled with extremely harsh criticisms of the president.

The suspicions that Smollett has lied about at least some aspects of the attack are growing.

If he was indeed attacked by his friends the Osundairo brothers, how does he have no clue who his attackers are? Even though he said his attackers wore ski masks and gloves, how could he think they were white if they were black, and how could he not recognize their familiar voices or Nigerian accents? And why are Nigerians yelling “This is MAGA country!” in the middle of the night in Chicago?

Smollett doubled-down on his claims that he’s telling the truth during his “Good Morning America” appearance that aired early Thursday. He lashed out at anyone who is expressing doubts, insinuating that they have racist motives.

“I feel like if I had said it was a Muslim, a Mexican or someone black, I feel like the doubters would support me a lot more,” he said. “And I feel like that’s an issue in our country right now.”

Jussie Smollett: “It feels like if I had said it was a Muslim, or a Mexican, or someone black, I feel like the doubters would have supported me a lot much more. A lot more. And that says a lot about the place that we are in our country right now.” https://t.co/gMhSp8dO9e pic.twitter.com/WpUCq6STp2

Except that if the Osundairo brothers were his attackers, they’re black.

Jussie Smollett’s desperation is showing as he shakes up his legal team and hires a crises management firm in order to avoid prison for making a false police report. Smollett is alleged to have hired two Nigerian brothers to fake an attack on him for $3,500 dollars. He was trying to frame Trump supporters and the media and Hollywood nimrods ate it up with a spoon. Smollett has fired high powered criminal attorney Mike Monico and replaced him with Chicago attorneys Victor Henderson and Todd Pugh. Jussie Smollett has also just retained Anne Kavanaugh. Her firm specializes in crises management.

It was reported Sunday that Jussie Smollett shuffled his criminal defense lawyers and hired a crisis management firm as the hate hoax unravels.

Fox 32 reporter Rafer Weigel said on Sunday that Michael Monico is no longer representing Jussie Smollett because there was reportedly a disagreement about the decision to release Saturday night’s statement. Mr. Smollett will now be represented by Chicago attorneys Victor Henderson and Todd Pugh.

Smollett’s reps denied high-profile criminal defense attorney Michael Monico was ever representing Smollett.

But Michael Monico confirmed to Fox News that he was representing Smollett, but no longer representing him.

Michael Monico has independently confirmed to @fox32news that he was but is no longer representing #JussieSmollett. He is not commenting on why things changed.

Chicago police believe actor Jussie Smollett paid two Nigerian brothers to stage an assault on him last month, according to a Saturday report from CNN.

Citing two sources close to the investigation, CNN reported that the brothers are “now cooperating fully with law enforcement.” The men were released Friday after being arrested on Wednesday in connection with the case.

The “Empire” actor told police that two men used racial and homophobic slurs and yelled, “this is MAGA country!” as they attacked him January 29. One of the men allegedly put a rope around his neck and poured a bleach-like chemical on the actor.

“The sources told CNN there are records that show the two brothers purchased the rope found around Smollett’s neck at an Ace Hardware store in Chicago,” CNN reported. (RELATED: Chicago Police Say ‘Empire’ Actor Refuses To Turn Over Phone Records)

Fox32 and NBC News also cite Chicago police sources saying the same thing.

New evidence in the alleged assault on "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett suggests that Smollett paid two Nigerian brothers to orchestrate the attack on him, according to law enforcement officials.

Sources say at least one of the brothers bought the rope used in the incident at Smollett’s request. The sources also say the 'Empire' actor paid for the rope, which was purchased at the Crafty Beaver Hardware Store the weekend of Jan. 25. The brothers were paid $3,500 before leaving for Nigeria and were promised an additional $500 upon their return.

"2 #CPD sources tell @fox32news the brothers arrested & released in #JussieSmollett case told detectives they were paid by the #Empire actor to orchestrate the attack," Fox 32 Chicago reporter Rafer Weigel tweeted. "Detectives also have a receipt for the rope found on #Smollett neck showing the brothers bought it."

CNN also reported that two Chicago law enforcement officials told the network that they believe Smollett paid the two brothers to coordinate the attack, noting "the sources told CNN that there are records that show the two brothers purchased the rope found around Smollett's neck at an Ace Hardware store in Chicago."

"The new direction of the investigation is now based on the premise that Mr. Smollett was an active participant in the incident," a law enforcement source told Deadline.

"We can confirm that the information received from the individuals questioned by police earlier in the Empire case has in fact shifted the trajectory of the investigation," Chicago Police Chief Communications Officer Anthony said. "We've reached out to the Empire cast member's attorney to request a follow-up interview."

Police arrested the two brothers on Wednesday "at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport and their apartment was searched Thursday," the Associated Press reported, adding, "They were questioned Friday but police were obliged to release them if they had not been charged within 48 hours."

"Due to new evidence as a result of today's interrogations, the individuals questioned by police in the Empire case have now been released without charging and detectives have additional investigative work to complete," Guglielmi tweeted.

On January 29, Smollett claimed that he was attacked in the early morning hours near his apartment in Chicago. "Two masked assailants poured ‘an unknown chemical substance’ on him, possibly bleach, and wrapped a rope around his neck, he told police," according to ABC News. "In a follow-up interview with police, Smollett alleges that the attackers yelled “MAGA country,” a reference to President Donald Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ slogan."

Within hours of the alleged attack, Democrats, including socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), immediately tweeted on the story without waiting for all the facts to come out.

"There is no such thing as 'racially charged,'" Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. "This attack was not “possibly” homophobic. It was a racist and homophobic attack. If you don’t like what is happening to our country, then work to change it. It is no one’s job to water down or sugar-coat the rise of hate crimes."

In an interview on Good Morning America, Smollett said: "It feels like if I had said it was a Muslim or a Mexican or someone black (who attacked me), I feel like the doubters would have supported me a lot much more, a lot more and that says a lot about the place that we are in our country right now."

"For me, the main thing was the idea that I somehow switched up my story, you know? And that somehow maybe I added a little extra trinket, you know, of the MAGA thing," Smollett continued. "I didn't need to add anything like that. They called me a f----, they called me a n----. There's no which way you cut it. I don't need some MAGA hat as the cherry on top of some racist sundae."

Chicago Police have put out a statement that Jussie Smollett will be facing charges if, as they now suspect, he lied about the hate assault. Nothing adds up and it’s increasingly evident that he made the entire story up. He now admits he does not have a broken rib as he claimed he had. They couldn’t have dumped bleach on him because it was 28 degrees below the freezing point for bleach and that doesn’t even include the wind chill. And who walks around carrying a noose? Also, the police have scoured hundreds of hours of surveillance tapes and there was no one spotted except Smollett himself. It doesn’t look good for Smollett.

The Jussie Smollett hate hoax assualt is heading towards a disastrous conclusion.
